Procedural justice focuses on the fairness of the processes used by authorities to make decisions. This lecture introduces its four key principles: voice, neutrality, respect and trustworthiness as well as explain how they influence people’s perceptions of fairness. It highlights how fair procedures can build trust, legitimacy and cooperation even when outcomes are unfavorable. Through examples, students will explore the importance of fair treatment in legal, organizational, and social settings.
