Crisis Management Lecture
The presentation focuses on the Critical Incident, Event and Disaster Management Plan Policy of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. An examination is done on the macro concepts of the Policy, with emphasis on the procedures expected to be implemented at different levels of the TTPS in times of crisis.
Moreover, the presentation will delve into the micro levels of preparing and responding to any unusual eventualities at the station and individual officer’s level. Events such as natural disaster, fires, and active shooter are some that would be discussed. A recommended organizational operational planning method termed the Four Phrases Continuum of Emergency Responding is also examined. The four phases being 1. Prevention/Mitigation 2. Preparation 3. Responding and 4. Recovery are individually explained. This is to allow participants to be able to identify their own readiness to satisfactory deal with various situations.
Conversely, the methodology of maintaining public order during protest and demonstrations is reviewed with consideration that such events require proper management. The laws and rights of citizens to protest and the requirements for law enforcement officers are perused.
