National Workshops on Cross-border movements in the context of Disaster (September to November 2022)
The virtual training for border officials (Phase III) will build on the online training for border officials in the OECS implemented in June 2020 and the Training of Trainer in 2021 which further aims to strengthen the sustainability of the training programme and to ensure effective participation. The programme will include the participation of senior border officials from thirteen (13) CARICOM Member States, including nine (9) OECS Member States (who also benefited from the online training in June 2020 and January 2021. It aims to: To deepen understanding and enable the transmission of knowledge on cross-border displacement issues (with a focus on contemporary issues); (2) To strengthen psychosocial support capacities in Member States to meet the needs of persons displaced by disasters and the adverse impacts of climate change; (3) To facilitate an enhanced understanding of mixed migration flows and international protection in the context of disaster scenarios; (3) To enable participants to conduct the training for colleagues; and (4) To provide participants with the necessary tools, guidance and support to transfer the knowledge, skills and techniques to others. Hence, to make the training sustainable.
