This course covers the roles and responsibilities of the first law enforcement officer at a
crime scene including assessment of the scene, securing techniques, managing
resources, recognizing, protecting, and preserving evidence as well as documenting
and handing over the scene. Participants will learn and apply the pre-scene, on (or at)
scene and post scene activities necessary to a crime scene response to optimize the
protection and subsequent recovery of evidence and success of the investigation
regardless of the seriousness and nature of the events.
